Somatic Therapy in California and the SF Bay Area
for anxiety from the past and the present
Kristina Shimokawa helps women, moms, therapists, and young adults heal the
anxiety and people-pleasing patterns so your
calm and confident Self can finally lead.
You are the one who holds everything together.
At work.
At home.
In every room you walk into.
You are also exhausted
in a way that's hard to explain and terrified you're stuck in patterns of anger and anxiety
You feel like you are...
• The one who holds it all together and secretly resents it
• Snapping at your kids, feeling a rage you may have not felt before, and spiraling in guilt immediately after
• Exhausted by a kind of tired that sleep doesn't fix
• Doing everything right on the outside and not feeling like enough on the inside
• Repeating patterns from your own childhood that you swore you'd never repeat
• Giving your best self to everyone else and running on whatever's left
You might be looking for
anxiety therapy or maybe you just Googled "why do I yell at my kids" or “why am I so worried all the time” late at night and ended up here.
Either way, you're in the right place.
Moments of anxiety, stress, and overwhelm are not who you are.
It's what happens when
a nervous system
that was never allowed to rest finally gives out.
IFS Therapy goes beneath the surface.
Not just coping or managing but
healing and changing
at the level where the pattern actually lives.
My name is Kristina
Whether it’s a deep need for self-care or a turning point in life, something in you needs change. And I’m so glad you’ve arrived here.
Therapy is the process of slowing down just enough to notice patterns in your thoughts, emotions, and body. It offers a safe, supportive space for healing and change in a world where stress is high and life moves fast.
I provide anxiety therapy that offers lasting change and deep healing experiences for individuals in the San Francisco Bay are and across California, helping you regulate emotions, heal old wounds, and shift your patterns.
I have spent years sitting with, holding space, and supporting change for clients that have struggled from impacts of anxiety, stress, trauma. I have devoted my time, energy, and resources to the practice of IFS therapy and have witnessed clients transform.
Through this work, we move from automatic reactivity to intentional response, building calm, confidence, and deeper connection with yourself and others.
I’m here to meet you where you are with total openness and non-judgment, deep empathy, gentle persistence, and sincere curiosity. Together, we move through the change process at your pace that feels safe and aligned for you.
What I hear from clients:
"I finally feel like I understand why I keep doing this and for the first time, I actually have compassion for myself."
“I came in thinking I needed to fix my anxiety. I left understanding why it was there in the first place."
"The rage is more settled. Not because I'm suppressing it, because the part of me that was raging finally got to be heard."

Anxiety is your body’s way of trying to protect you - signaling when something feels unsafe or unresolved.
While anxiety is a necessary part of being human, it can become overwhelming when it tries to protect you all the time.In IFS therapy, we don’t try to get rid of your anxiety—we listen to it.
It’s not the problem; it’s a signal from a part of you that still carries hurt.
Together, we help that part heal, so your anxiety can soften, step back, and trust you to lead—calm, steady, and clear. -
Parenting is one of the hardest things we do—at any stage.
Whether you’re becoming a parent, raising little ones, navigating the teen years, or supporting adult children, it brings up everything: love, fear, exhaustion, and often, the times of how we were parented ourselves.IFS therapy supports you as you parent your children while gently reparenting the parts of you that didn’t get what they needed.
With this work, you can bring more grace, compassion, and joy into your parenting—and be more present for the moments that matter most. -
Therapy is a healing process—but true healing goes beyond the mind.
It includes the body, the nervous system, and the energy we carry through life and work.
Whether you're a psychotherapist, physical or occupational therapist, doctor, or nurse—you hold space for others. And that takes a toll.
IFS therapy offers a place for healers to rest, release, and reconnect with themselves. So you can return to your work with more clarity, presence, and vitality.

Young adulthood can feel overwhelming: pressure, uncertainty, big life transitions, and constant stress running in the background.
I provide therapy for young adults struggling with anxiety, overthinking, perfectionism, social anxiety, and burnout. Using Internal Family Systems (IFS) and somatic therapy, we work with your anxious parts in a compassionate, non-pathologizing way to help you feel more grounded, confident, and clear.
If you’re a young adult in California looking for anxiety therapy, you don’t have to figure this out alone.
